I’m Rob Hill (b. 1986, Los Angeles, CA) a geometric abstract painter and United States Coast Guard veteran based in Denver, CO and Los Angeles, CA. My practice explores themes of Unity Through Diversity, expressed through the intersection of line, texture, angle, and color.

I’m known for my ability to translate visual language across a variety of surfaces, including canvas, denim, leather, wood, glass, marble, silk, and metal. My work draws influence from ancient Egyptian design and mid-century abstraction, resulting in a bold, structured aesthetic that feels both timeless and contemporary.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Through an intuitive and improvisational process, I create art that explores the threads connecting

humanity. By using vibrant colors, bold geometric shapes, and layered textures, I reflect on how people

share common experiences and how those connections can unify us. Fabric and color play a central role in

my work, symbolizing the ways cultures intersect and weave together.

My methodical approach is deeply shaped by my experience in the U.S. Coast Guard, instilling discipline

and precision in my creative process. This structure blends seamlessly with my passion for ancient

Egyptian design and mid-century abstraction and architecture, influences that inform my use of hard

edges and geometric patterns.

Each piece invites viewers to engage intimately with its details and layers, demanding a closer look to

uncover hidden meanings. The crisp, sharp edges and dynamic compositions in my work symbolize both

the harmony of unity and the tensions caused by societal challenges. By addressing these complexities,

my art seeks to bridge divides, celebrate diversity, and inspire new ways of thinking about connection and

community.

Ultimately, my work is about possibility—the possibility of seeing each other through a new lens and

finding common ground in our shared humanity.
